From the greenery to the brews: this styled shoot was dark, romantic elegance through and through. And to put a little modern spin on things we styled this shoot at Royal Docks Brewing Co. in Canton, OH. The brewery is a wedding dream come true. Adorned in subway tiles, dark woods and direct viewing of the brewing rooms event attendees experience first hand the craftsmanship of creating a perfect beer all while enjoying a stunning venue. This photoshoot was documented by Lizzie Schlafer Photography located in Cleveland, OH.
This was a female driven photoshoot from start to finish. Our participating vendors, models and venue owner were all women! And we weren’t mad about it. Leslianne Lake from Beloved Ohio and Val Semick from Perfectly Planned by Val created a breathtaking tablescape adorned with golden winter decor, custom ornaments with calligraphy by The Blonde Maker, rentals from Miller’s Party Rental and elegant linens by L’Nique. All of the elements seamlessly blended together to create a cozy atmosphere for guests.
Royal Docks Brewing Co. is located in Canton, OH. And while the owners live in Ohio, they called Britain home for a couple of years. Their appreciation for the classic British pub came back with them to the States where they developed an experience for guests. Their main goal: to make darn good beer and cultivate a comfortable environment for folks who come to try a pint.
From a design standpoint we wanted to embrace the traditional elements of a winter wedding with lush greenery, deep red tones and hints of gold and silver. The beautiful bride and her bridesmaids were styled by The Dress, located in Medina, OH. Not only were the ladies dressed up in flowing gowns but we opted to have one dressed in a burgundy jump suit with an open back and plunging neckline. All of their jewelry was also provided by The Dress. We wanted to tell a story of what it would be like on a wedding day when the bride was just enjoying her time with the ladies in her life. All of the women who modeled had their hair and makeup done by Beauty Therapy Inc. Their looks were a perfect blend of natural and edgy looks that brought all of the design concepts together.
Studio Bakery, also located in Canton, crafted a beautiful cake adorned with matching florals from Nikki’s Perfect Petals. Everything from the macarons to the chocolate truffle mini cakes were absolutely stunning. The artistic approach to creating desserts is my favorite way to personalize a wedding day. You’ll see what I mean when you scroll down!
Last, but certainly not least, the florals! You won’t believe what Nikki and her staff were able to create. Hanging over the sweetheart table was a floating greenery cloud. We wanted to give the greenery a chance to steal the spotlight. And I have to say, they nailed it! The mix of natural cotton, wheat flourishes and dark red flowers combined with green plants made for the perfect addition to the venue space. She also created the bride’s necklace. Can you believe all of those florals are real?!
It was an absolute privilege to work with the women involved in this shoot. We wanted to show that you can in fact have a beautiful, non-traditional wedding day that felt inviting and cozy for your guests. Royal Docks Brewing Co. was the perfect space to bring our vision to life. I hope you all enjoy it! Thank you again to all of the participating vendors. Your work was just as beautiful as you are!
